Explosion in a hostel in Sonsón left one injured and serious damage, authorities investigate the case.
A strong explosion followed by a fire consumed part of a hostel located on Calle 5 and Carrera 6, urban area of the municipality of Sonsón. The incident left an injured person and caused significant structural damage to the property.

The rapid action of the communityadded to the work of the Fire Department, was decisive in controlling the emergency. Their intervention made it possible to mitigate the spread of the fire and minimize risks. So far, the material damage has not been quantified.
The competent authorities are evaluating the extent of the structural damage. The causes of the explosion and subsequent fire are currently the subject of investigation.
With the arrival of the last month of the year, the authorities in Medellín deployed operational activities that are already beginning to show results to combat illicit activities.
During the announcement of the 1,200 police officers who will monitor the city during this season, the capture of four men accused of being part of the Caicedo criminal structure and of being the main perpetrators of extortion cases was announced.
Among those detained are the aliases ‘Guajiro’, alleged coordinator; and ‘Gafas’, ‘Barbas’ and ‘Chamo’, linked to economic demands on merchants in sectors of downtown Medellín.

According to General William Ramón, commander of the Police in the Aburrá Valley, this structure had more than 100 victims from those who demanded money to let them work.
It is estimated that they earned between 20 thousand and 45 thousand pesos weekly.
During the operation, with the support of Gaula, five cell phones were seized and made available to the Prosecutor’s Office to evaluate the modus operandi.
Those captured were placed at the disposal of the Prosecutor’s Office and, after preliminary hearings, they were ordered to be held in prison. They could face sentences of more than 20 and even more than 30 years in prison.
The authorities invite citizens to report all types of criminal acts during the end of the year period.
