Federal justice is investigating a possible theft of sensitive information in the offices of the Council of the Judiciary, after detecting more than twenty envelopes with sworn statements from judges and secretaries opened in a dependency of that body, judicial sources reported.

The investigation began with a complaint filed by the agency itself after an employee reported that, upon returning to work after a long weekend, she found that her desk was not in the same condition in which she had left it. .

The judicial investigation is in the hands of federal judge Daniel Rafecas and prosecutor Ramiro González, who received a report from the Council of the Judiciary who had been asked to detail whether any missing documentation had been detected or if they found forced locks, among other things. .

The incident occurred in the Sworn Declarations office of the Council of the Judiciary, in the building located at Sarmiento 877 in the city of Buenos Aires, and was reported on June 21, as Télam was able to reconstruct.

That morning, after a long weekend, an employee from the Asset Declarations area came to work and found one door open that should have been locked and others poorly locked. The employee also reported that her desk was not in the same condition in which she had left it.

The sources said that, as initially determined, “there was no damage or theft or missing, but 24 envelopes of open sworn statements (about 11,000), belonging to judges and secretaries, were recorded.” In addition, they warned that when the episode occurred “the security cameras were not working.”

Strictly speaking, and given the apparent initial absence of damage or theft of documentation, an attempt will be made to determine if information was stolen from those envelopes, since they contain private information about the magistrates. The researchers also do not rule out that, if this possibility is confirmed, this material could be used to intimidate or extort money from the victims.

The file would be delegated to the prosecutor González, so that he advances with the evidence measures tending to clarify the fact.
