They investigate a pamphlet that threatens EPM employees in Northeast Antioquia

Authorities investigate a pamphlet that declares EPM workers a military objective; Police believe it would be false.

A pamphlet, dated November 18 and allegedly signed by FARC dissidents, was distributed among employees and contractors of Public Companies of Medellín who work in rural areas of Maceo and bordering areas with Yolombó, Vegachí and the San José del Nus district, in northeast Antioquia.

The document that declares how “military objectives” to company workers, has generated concern among the communities and the personnel who operate in these areas. The authorities are already carrying out investigations to establish the real origin of the message and determine if it corresponds to an organized armed structure or if it is a pamphlet prepared by common crime with the purpose of intimidating and putting pressure on the company.

Until now, the Antioquia Police assure that the pamphlet it would be false. According to Colonel Óscar Mauricio Rico, commander of the Antioquia Police, the logos and graphic elements do not coincide with those used by the dissidents, and bear no resemblance to other communications that have circulated on other occasions.

“A threat that does not correspond to the logarithms and logos used by this criminal structure, we show that it has no resemblance to the originality of other pamphlets that have circulated and what we are verifying the threats that they make especially the attack on electrical fluid“said Colonel Óscar Rico, commander of the Antioquia Police.

Despite the dissemination of the message, Public Companies of Medellín has not yet issued an official statement facing the situation.

For now, the authorities maintain surveillance in the region and advance the verification work to rule out risks and guarantee the safety of energy company workers.
