The Prosecutor’s Office and the Police began an investigation for new lynching that was registered in the department of Cochabamba against an alleged criminal, in addition to the search for two other subjects who stole 34 thousand bolivianos from a home.
The departmental prosecutor of Cochabamba, Osvaldo Tejerina, reported that the deceased, and three more people were reported for entering to rob a home in the Carcaje area of the municipality of Tolata, in the upper valley region of Cochabambino.
“We have the existence of crime of theft of 34,000 bolivianos, where four people leave the property in an unknown direction. A second caseas a result of the population of Tolata having been alertedof the crime of aggravated robbery, and the presence of these people (defendants) proceed to the arrest of two subjects and they are subjected to a series of humiliations and torture,” Tejerina explained.
It was Monday, May 13, when the mob of neighbors chased the alleged thieves and grabbed two of them identified as Diego CG (31) and Alexander ZS (41), who were severely beaten with sticks and other blunt objects.
“These cases of social relevance generate concern among the authorities in charge of criminal prosecution. The residents proceed to arrest two people, ages 34 and 41, who They are taken to the town to be subjected to humiliationand torture,” lamented the prosecutor.
The police arrived in Tolata and rescued the two alleged thieves and took them to a hospital in the municipality of Cliza, however, they were referred to the Viedma hospital due to the seriousness of both and Diego CG lost his life on the journey due to the serious injuries he suffered in the lynching.
While Alexander Z.S. recovering in the Viedma hospital and the report from the Forensic Research Institute (IDIF) indicates that he suffered fractures in his left arm and injuries to different parts of the body.
“All investigative activity is being generated that allows us to apprehend the peoples within the crime of aggravated robbery, because we have the theft of 34,000 bolivianos and the raid on a home in a violent manner,” Tejerina added.
