Acapulco, Gro., President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo reported that 7,714 million pesos have been invested to address the emergency generated by the impact of the hurricane John in 66 municipalities of Guerrero and Oaxaca.

Of these resources, he highlighted from Acapulco, 6,659 million pesos have been allocated to Guerrero, with 51 municipalities affected – 29 with the greatest impact –, and 1,055 to Oaxaca, with 15 municipalities affected by the meteor.

At the facilities of the twelfth Naval Region, in Icacos, the head of the Executive led the general report of the actions to respond to the effects left by the hurricane, which made landfall a month ago as a category three.

The investment has been directed towards recovery work in the affected towns and neighborhoods, as well as the delivery of support, after which the President concluded the emergency stage.

The president was accompanied by members of her cabinet and the commanders of the armed forces.

The head of the Welfare Secretariat, Ariadna Montiel, indicated that the social investment from the federal government for the reconstruction of homes will be 6 thousand 49 million pesos.

Of these resources, 2,960 million pesos will be for those affected in Acapulco, 2,790 million for those who suffered losses in the rest of the impacted municipalities of Guerrero and 358 million for the families of the municipalities of Oaxaca.

So far, 153,723 families have been registered with damage to their homes, 143,484 in Guerrero and 10,239 in Oaxaca.

The official explained that in Acapulco the delivery of support began on October 19 and will conclude on November 1. In the rest of the municipalities of Guerrero it will be from November 4 to 10, while in the 15 of Oaxaca from November 4 to 8 month.

Record rains

Laura Velázquez, national coordinator of Civil Protection, specified that John It caused a cumulative rainfall of 1,15.2 millimeters in Guerrero, when the average annual precipitation is 1,200 millimeters, which represents that in four days it rained 84.5 percent of the average for a year in the entity.

He announced that the National Civil Protection Coordination is working on a local plan with the three levels of government to reduce disaster risk in Acapulco, with actions that allow the control and reduction of dangers in a comprehensive manner, for which risks are identified. natural due to flooding or landslides at different points.

The Secretary of Public Education, Mario Delgado, pointed out that damage was recorded in 1,369 schools in Guerrero, 150 of them with serious damage.

In-person classes have resumed in 73 percent of schools, which represents 7,817 schools out of 10,591 in the state; and activities remain suspended in 2,169 schools, he stated.
