The departmental prosecutor of Oruro, Orlando Zapata, reported this Friday that the Public Ministry investigates the alleged dismantling of seized vehicles by the Customs Immediate Reaction Group (GRIA), dependent on the Oruro Regional Customs, before its corresponding registration and control.
Faced with a complaint made, the Oruro Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office initiated the investigative actions for the alleged dismantling of vehicles seized from smugglingwhich are later transferred to the Pasto Grande customs area.
During an operation carried out in the Customs garages spokes, boards, wheels, rim cover, among other accessories and elements of conviction that presume the existence of the criminal act.
“No act of corruption will be tolerated or go unpunishedwe are going to continue with the investigations, the specialized anti-corruption prosecutors of the Oruro Departmental Prosecutor’s Office will carry out all the corresponding investigative acts until this fact is clarified and the perpetrators are punished, “said Zapata.
For his part, the anti-corruption prosecutor, Lionel León, reported that during the joint operation with the police nine officials were arrested and found in the garages customs officers and indicated that in the next few hours they will give their testimonial interview before the investigator of the case, to determine their legal situation.
“We are investigating this complaint due to a possible act of customs corruption, since according to the norm, vehicles illegal goods seized from contraband must be deposited in the customs areabut apparently they are brought to this place and dismantled, we have hijacked two vehicles that would have entered the country illegally and brought to this point three weeks ago, “he added.
