They inaugurated in Viedma a space for support and help for the LGBTIQ community

The first “Casita de Comarca Diversa” was inaugurated in the Rio Negro city of Viedma, an initiative that offers a space for containment, training and where common issues of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual (LGBT) collective can be managed, reported from this Association Civil.

The headquarters will have psychological attention, administrative offices, multipurpose rooms for workshops, courses and other activities.

The president of the Civil Association of the Diverse Region of Viedma and Patagones, Ramiro Villaverde, in dialogue with Télam, explained that they are “an organization designed to defend the rights of the LGBTIQ community, women and dissidents.”

“In recent times we strongly address childhoods because many situations come to them naturally,” he assured.

As explained by the diversity reference, “parents today accompany from the first moment, and for that reason we have been working hard with children, we have a very good interdisciplinary team, educational psychologists and social assistance, among other professionals.”

“Then also the mothers of early childhood who have already done everything, the registration change, in the social works to start with the hormone treatment and a lot of things that are already oiled,” said Villaverde.

“But we also approached the defense with work for labor inclusion. We, who founded Comarca Diversa, were the ones who presented the trans labor quota project in Viedma,” he asserted.

Regarding the headquarters inaugurated today, Villaverde explained that they are “carrying out trade workshops to achieve labor independence. We know that it is difficult, but we approach it so that sex work is not the only way out,” the referent remarked.

Regarding whether they receive help from the Province, he indicated that “from the Ministry of Social Development they help us with the Emprender program to give the workshops, but our main resources come from the membership fees and some voluntary contribution.”

Regarding how their issues are treated in schools, he said that “there is another attitude. The parents of the new childhoods are generally young people who come with another attitude and predisposition.”

“Unlike before, we have a majority that accompanies, which is tolerant and respectful,” he added.
