The Secretary of Malvinas, Antarctica and the South Atlantic, Guillermo Carmona, together with the Argentine ambassador to Ecuador, Gabriel Fuks, inaugurated this Thursday a milestone that marks the distance between the Malvinas Islands and the Middle of the World city in Parallel Zero.
The signage presented this Thursday points from the exact middle of planet Earth, over Ecuador, towards the Malvinas Islands and details the distance from “6,025 km to the Usurped Homeland”as indicated by Ambassador Fuks on his Twitter account.
In this regard, Carmona assured that “it is one more gesture that Malvinas unites us Argentines and Argentines and also unites us with the brothers and sisters of the Great Homeland.”

The secretary arrived on Wednesday in the Republic of Ecuador, where he was received at the Official Residence by Fuks, they reported through a statement.
There he met with the members of the Permanent Specialized Commission for International Relations and Human Mobility of the National Assembly and with members of the International Relations Commission.
In this framework, the secretary spoke about the Malvinas Question and Argentine Antarctic policy in the Foreign Relations Commission of the National Assembly.
“The legislators expressed their support for the Argentine position and agreed to hold a debate in the plenary session of Congress in order to approve a declaration reaffirming Argentine sovereignty over the Malvinas, Georgias and South Sandwich Islands and the corresponding maritime and insular spaces.“Carmona wrote on his Twitter account.
In addition, the secretary spoke with local media and reinforced the claim to the United Kingdom for Argentine sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands.
“We saw Great Britain’s categorical position in favor of Ukraine and we applaud it, but we demand that it be consistent in South America, you cannot sustain the discourse of territorial integrity when it suits you and systematically violate it for 190 years in Argentina,” he said in dialogue with Radio Pichincha.
And he pointed out that “the current British government has a reticent position, they do not want to negotiate because they assure that there was a war and they won it, but wars do not generate rights and there is even an international context in which it is difficult for the United Kingdom to sustain the refusal “.
Later, accompanied by Fuks and embassy officials, he held a meeting with the president of the National Assembly, Javier Virgilio Saquicela, and the members of the Argentina-Ecuador Parliamentary Friendship Group, where they highlighted the ties of brotherhood between both countries, the support history of Ecuador to the Argentine position in the Malvinas Question and bilateral cooperation in Antarctic matters.
In the afternoon, he met with the United Nations Director of the Undersecretary for Multilateral Relations of the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry.
