MIAMI, United States. — The Cuban political police imposed a precautionary measure of home confinement to the writer and journalist Jorge Fernández Era, a contributor to media outlets such as The touch and The Young Cuba.
The measure was informed to Fernández Era this Friday during a summons in the Aguilera Unit, in the municipality of Diez Octubre, the same station to which he has been taken on other occasions.
“At home. The summons was to instruct me on charges for the crime of disobedience in a case that will be heard by the Municipal Court of Arroyo Naranjo. The precautionary measure prohibiting leaving the country is maintained, and the precautionary measure of home confinement is also imposed on me, which I am obliged to comply with from this minute until June 6,” the writer wrote in his Facebook account.
Fernández Era was ironic about the consequences that the precautionary measure of home confinement that was imposed on him will have for him.
“My wife is imposed a precautionary measure to guard the CDR alone; look for chicken, dogs, hash, detergent, oil and cigarettes at Coco and General Lee; throw away the garbage; and support the work of the deputies of our constituency”, indicated the also comedian.
Fernández Era said that he was detained from 10 in the morning until one in the afternoon.
“Only three hours, the other time it was five. The service loses quality. For the next time I will make a reservation, ”said the writer, persecuted in recent months due to his work in alternative media.
Jorge Fernandez was was arrested and interrogated on April 6 by agents of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT). On that occasion, the political police warned him that he was being banned from leaving the country, a measure that the island’s regime usually applies against activists, opponents and independent journalists.
