With an investment of Bs. 16,782,000, the National Customs implemented 10 state-of-the-art scanners at the Viru Viru (Santa Cruz) and El Alto (La Paz) airports, acquired for the purpose of strengthen customs controls with modern technology and optimize inspection times.
The president of the State, Luis Arce, arrived in the capital of Santa Cruz this Thursday to participate in the drill in the international arrivals and departures areas of the airport terminal. The event was also attended by Deputy Minister of Tax Policy, Jhonny Morales, and the president of the National Customs, Karina Serrudo.
“Today we have a very modern control, I asked the president of Customs about whether we are now one of the countries that has the most modern equipment in the control of passenger luggage. There is also a very adequate control, without any invasionall the information is taken to see if something is not being entered illegally or that has not been declared on the ballots,” Arce said.
It is non-intrusive inspection equipment, modernizing and streamlining operations. The SAFE regulatory framework of the World Customs Organization – WCO recommends that inspections use non-intrusive equipment and radiation detectors to identify high-risk cargo, without disrupting legitimate trade.
Of the 10 new teamsfour scanners for people (body scanner) were installed in Viru Viru (Santa Cruz) and two at the El Alto International airport, each one acquired with more than two million bolivianos and used for the review of travelers.
are also implemented four model baggage scanners HI-SCAN 100100T-2is. These high-tech equipment stand out for their inspection tunnel size, both wide and high (1010mm X 1010mm), its sight penetration exceeding 35 millimetersa load capacity that exceeds 200 kilograms and the speed of the conveyor belt that reaches 0.20 meter/second.
Its features include its high resolution, speed of detection and effectivenessusing non-ionizing millimeter wave radiofrequency technology that records the image or figure of the entire body (from the feet to the head), both front and back.
“We did not have the quality, level or technology to replicate that same control in our country. It is not necessary to open the suitcase or undress the passenger. We are dignifying the countrysetting the highest level”, highlighted the president.
For his part, Serrudo affirmed that these scanners expedite the passage of 3,000 passengers who daily enter and leave the Viru Viru airport; as well as the million people who leave and the million who enter each year.
