DNA test confirmed that it was Ruben Torres, missing since February 7

On the afternoon of last Sunday, the Police had found a decomposing body on the Interbalnearia route, at the height of Pan de Azúcar. A week after the discovery, the Maldonado Police Headquarters confirmed that the deceased man was Ruben Torres (46 years old, worker in a hotel in Punta del Este and resident of San Carlos).
towers He had disappeared on February 7 and his car had been found on fire in Parque Rodó in Montevideo. The laboratory tests of the body found on the route, after being compared with the DNA samples, confirmed that it was him.
At the time, the Prosecutor’s Office and the Police they had not been able to identify the man “given the state of decomposition of the body”. In a statement they had reported that they were waiting for “forensic reports to establish the sex and identification” of the deceased person, which would also be useful in determining the cause of death.
After identifying the body, this Sunday, Commissioner Santiago Rosa Santi said that the police continue to act based on the directives they received from the Prosecutor’s Office and that the evidence was also delivered to the First Shift court of San Carlos that was following the disappearance of Torres.
