Madrid Spain.- The independent project Cuban Repressors identified four of the repressors of the inhabitants of the El Cepen community, in the Artemisa province, who last week They tried to leave the country through Baracoa beach.
The repressors identified were Colonel Aldo Valdés Quijano; the secretary of the Communist Party in the Artemisa province, Gladys Martínez Verdecia; PNR Lieutenant Colonel Tomás Alfonso Valdés; and the head of counterintelligence in Artemisa, Adrián González Oliva.
As explained to Radio Television Marti Rolando Cartaya, responsible for the project of the Foundation for Human Rights in Cuba, Valdés Quijano was the one who gave the order to repress.
“He is the only colonel who was there. He is seen in the videos on various occasions. We have still photos in which he appears with his grades: 4 stars on his lapel”, Cartaya specified.
After the violent confrontation between soldiers and residents of El Cepen, a local Cuban questioned the authorities. After his intervention, the police and the MININT Special Brigade further repressed these people.
Martínez Verdecia and Alfonso Valdés were at the meeting “in which this born leader of the El Cepen group spoke” and did nothing to prevent the repression, Cartaya reported.
While Adrián González Oliva was identified as “the head of counterintelligence in the province of Artemisa and of course he is in charge of all the investigative operations of those who participated, from the point of view of the people, in this skirmish with the repressive troops , arrests and interrogations.”
In his speech, the aforementioned Cuban told the authorities: “If they don’t want us because we are an illegal community, if we don’t fit in this country because our salary is not enough to buy in stores in hard currency and there is no oil for thermoelectric plants work, we decide with our lives what we want”.
Just as he pointed out: “We are Cubans like you, who have another position at the moment, but once the current went away, once they did not have food as we do not have it today. They once had nothing like we don’t have. That they changed position, congratulations. Let us make the decision for our lives.”
