Police and rescuers intensify search efforts for Belgian tourist Natacha de Crombrugghe in the Colca River, in the area known as Walka Walka in the Cabanaconde district, Caylloma province.
The foreigner was reported on January 24 as missing in the Colca Valley and for more than two weeks she has been intensely searched by agents from specialized units of the National Police, high mountain rescuers and local guides known as Rasqueros.
Time passes, there are no traces of the foreigner and the investigation police of the Divincri Arequipa begin to rule out options and they suspect that she has fallen into the river. With the increase in the flow in the rainy season it would have been dragged and her body would be found in the middle of large rocks.
The troops cannot enter the water due to the danger it represents and one option is to wait for the level to drop.
The decomposition time of a body is approximately 10 days. However, under water with low temperature the action could take 30 days. “The body begins to come to the surface and is easier to see,” said an agent.
Mayor. Christian Cayani Benavides, mayor of the Cabanaconde district, said that he met with the manager of Autocolca, to whom he raised the need to install surveillance cameras at strategic points in the area.
“Cabanaconde is small and we will coordinate with Autocolca for the installation of cameras and they have to work on signage and the installation of a tourist guide office,” he said.
Natacha’s parents, through a local station, asked the locals to give information to the National Police to help in the search for their daughter.
