The Mechanized Infantry Regiment 7 of La Plata will hold a ceremony this Saturday, on the 40th anniversary of the battle of Mount Longdon during the Falklands War, in which 36 Argentine soldiers died; 120 were wounded and 50 were taken prisoner.
The ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the “Arboleada de los Héroes” cenotaph of the Arana Garrison, located at 137 and 630 streets, in the city of La Plata, province of Buenos Aires, where a mock combat will take place. with explosives and blank weapons.
“It is a very important, emotional and traditional act. It was convened at that time because it begins to get dark and it is similar to how the real situation was. In our combat, an Englishman stepped on a mine and we realized that they were close. begin tomorrow’s act,” said ex-combatant Gustavo Luzardo, who was 19 years old when he fought in the war, in a dialogue with Télam.
During the ceremony, in which authorities from the Ministry of Defense and the Army will participate, the fallen ex-combatants will be honored, while a band will parade with a torch for each dead soldier.
