Leaders of the Frente de Todos highlighted this Friday the “frankness” and “sincerity” of the debate that took place last night at the first meeting of the coalition’s political table, in which the main axes were the call to preserve the “unity in diversity”the recognition of the PASO as an instance of internal regulation and the commitment to work against the “proscriptionCristina Fernandez de Kirchner.
The almost six hours of debate at the PJ headquarters in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Balvanera were the initial kick of the electoral assembly in a meeting attended by the president Alberto Fernandezthe Minister of Economy Sergio Massa and the national deputy maximum kirchner together with leaders of different internal spaces, totaling 33 attendees.
The participants, almost in their entirety, presented their points of view, described in detail aspects of the reality that they know due to their status as union, social or political representatives, and outlined in the future what should be the steps to be followed by the political table.
From the space closest to the Head of State, the Minister of Social Development, Victoria Toulouse Peaceassured that the President will do “everything necessary for the Frente de Todos to win the 2023 elections”, and appreciated that “the tone of complaint” was left in the meeting to “respect each other in diversity”.
“We all realized that we want to win”remarked the official and leader from La Plata, and said that the succession of speeches made the meeting “long but with a lot of sense” because, she said, “it allowed progress on the road that will end with the assembly of the lists in unity in diversity , respecting the differences that we already know we have”.
“Yesterday we all realized that we want to win the election to continue transforming the country. That was something very nice that happened last night,” he added.
In this sense, Tolosa Paz revealed that at one point in the debate, the Head of State expressed to all those present his commitment to contribute to a victory for the FdT in this year’s presidential elections.
“The President said: ‘I don’t want Alberto Fernández to win, he wants the Frente de Todos to win’“said the minister.
And in this sense, he announced that the president will do “everything necessary for the FdT to win in 2023.”
For his part, the Chief of Staff, Augustine Rossiexplained that the meeting “was sincere and long”, and that one of the features that predominated in the speeches was the “strong commitment to the unity of the FdT and to denounce Cristina’s ban”.
In addition, he pointed out that in the meeting “the tool of the PASO was discussed to resolve the issue of candidacies at the front”.
From Kirchnerism, the minister of the Buenos Aires Community, Andres Larroquesaid that “important, strong, frank things were discussed” and stated that the ruling party has to “begin to debate what variants there are if Cristina’s situation is not resolved”.
In this sense, he urged “to take measures to break the ban on Cristina”, since “what gives us the greatest (electoral) possibilities is the figure of Cristina” because “is the one that measures the most”.
Asked about the possibility of a candidacy for the head of state seeking re-election, Larroque replied: “If the President claims to be a candidate, a STEP cannot be developed.”
Along the same lines, the national deputy Sergio Palazzo and general secretary of La Bancaria considered that “Alberto’s candidacy has to be defined soon because installing a candidate takes time and it cannot be defined on the closing of lists.”
On the part of the governors, the chaco Jorge Capitanich he said he agreed “an action plan to avoid banning” of the Vice President and the creation of a “special commission to desist from not participating in the electoral process”.
Another of the points agreed yesterday, Capitanich expanded, was “an action plan from the point of view of ensuring that there is no type of impediment for a possible candidacy on his part.”
In this regard, the mayor of Ensenada Mario Secco He announced that said commission will seek to meet with the former president and head of the Senate because “it is the one that put together this front, it is the one that measures the most, the one that has the most votes and the one that convenes the most.”
In turn, the governor of Entre Ríos Gustavo Bordet He remarked that in the meeting “they agreed on unity, beyond the nuances that we have in our strength.”
From unionism, the assistant secretary of Truck Drivers and triumvirate of the CGT, Pablo Moyanostated that the spirit that arose in last night’s meeting was the general agreement that “you have to defeat the right” and for this reason, he noted, in the FdT “there are no doubts or selfishness”.
“The one who is best positioned will be the candidate with or without STEP”remarked the trade unionist.
On behalf of the social movements, the Secretary for Relations with Civil Society and Community Development Fernando “Chino” Navarroa reference to the Evita Movement, maintained that the meeting “exceeded expectations” and admitted that “Massa’s speech was the one I liked the most because it had a political density.”
Regarding the next meeting of the political table, Navarro announced that “The President announced that he is going to meet with all the members of the political parties that make up the Front and who were not there yesterday.”
Some of the participants last night did represent some of those parties, such as the community chief of Ensenada for the Frente Grande and the mayor of Morón Lucas Ghi by Nuevo Encuentro, although it is discounted that in the next meeting of the political table there will be an organic call to the presidents of each of those forces that make up the coalition headed by the PJ.
The first meeting of the political table of the FdT lasted for almost six hours and ended after 1:30 in the morning this Friday at the national headquarters of the PJ in a meeting that concluded with a speech by the President and the dissemination of a document entitled ” Democracy without proscriptions Unity to transform”.
