The journalist Verónica Chávez, wife of the former presidential candidate Michael Moraregretted not being able to celebrate Father’s Day on June 23 for her husband because he was arbitrarily held captive in the Judicial Assistance Directorate (DAJ), known as “El Nuevo Chipote” in Managua.

“Today we cannot be with you, love Miguel Mora to celebrate your day as the excellent father you are because they unfairly hold you under those bars,” the communicator said through her Facebook account.

A year that Miguelito does not see his father

In interview with Article 66the wife of journalist Miguel Mora said that it has been very painful since her husband is in jail for the second time on the orders of the Ortega regime.

«Apart from the fact that it is the second (prison occasion), Miguelito —son of Mora and Chávez— has not seen him for a year. The first time – when Miguel Mora was imprisoned – he was still able to see him twice, but this time he has been there for a year”, Chavez reproached.

He recalled that for the Christmas holidays, his birthday and today Father’s Day, Miguelito Mora has spent it without the company of his father. “It’s hard because Miguelito is a special child, and the presence of his father is essential in his emotional development,” he stressed.

“Although he knows that his father is not there – Miguelito Mora – he calls him every day, asks about him (…) And it is painful to know that Miguel is unjustly imprisoned,” he remarked.

Verónica Chávez said that instead of being a day of joy, this June 23 is sad, “because they deny us the right to be with him as a family, especially because Miguel has been exemplary. I call him super dad, because Miguelito is 21 years old, and that’s what his dad has to do therapy, to get him ahead and be with him; they are very close”.

The journalist was arrested for the second time on June 20, 2021, at his home in Managua. The Nicaraguan dictatorship decided to imprison Mora for allegedly violating Law 1055 or the Sovereignty Law. He accused and convicted him of “conspiracy to undermine national integrity” and “treason against the fatherland.”

The journalist was subjected to attacks and cyber harassment. Since the end of 2018, the equipment, frequency and facilities of Canal 100% Noticias have been confiscated. He was illegally detained for the first time on December 21 of that year and released in June 2019, to be kidnapped again on June 20, 2021.
