The official stated that in the country the 18 largest land grabbers concentrate 21,580 plots in 45 agricultural centers, which are located in 37 municipalities of 19 entities in the country. At the same time, 19 hoarders have 47,876 plots of land in various community ejidos.
“Today two of the richest men in Mexico are ejidatarios and thus former governors or former senators, former deputies. Big capital is involved in the logic of privatization, of dispossession, of the depredation of ejidos and communities,” he said.
The ejidos and agrarian communities represent half of the Mexican territory, where 30 million people live and guard 70% of the forests and jungles, as well as 80% of the hydrological basins, therefore, he explained, it is of vital importance to achieve their development. .
“That those who live in the ejidos and communities do not look for economic opportunities in other territories or in other countries. That migration is a right and not a pressure to survive due to a lack of alternatives,” he stated.
The forum held at the Mexico City Museum was attended by representatives of ejidos and agrarian communities, in order to participate in the consultation process of the National Development Plan 2025-2030. Also attending were the Head of Government, Clara Brugada, and the coordinator of Advisors to the Presidency of the Republic, Jesús Ramírez Cuevas.
