A bill that establishes the mandatory inclusion and sufficient availability of the drug “Olaparib”, and others for cancer treatment, in the vade mecum of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare, and of the Social Welfare Institute (IPS), awaits treatment of the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies, with opinions of approval.
The initiative is promoted by legislators Raúl Latorre (ANR-Capital), and Walter Harms (ANR-Itapúa); while the favorable opinions were issued by the advisory commissions of Justice, Labor and Social Welfare, and Social Equity and Gender.
This drug, it should be mentioned, is used to cancer treatment, usually after chemotherapy.
The document in question is intended to establish the mandatory the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare, and the Social Welfare Institute, to include the aforementioned drug (olaparib), and others for cancer treatment, in their respective Vademecum, “for free provision to their patients, having to guarantee the availability enough of them.”

One of the articles indicates that the Ministry of Health and the Social Welfare Institute “will be directly responsible” for complying with the eventual Law.
“The non-compliance will represent a serious offense and the responsible official must be sanctioned in accordance with current laws. Recidivism will be sanctioned with dismissal and the prohibition to hold public office for five years, ”says, likewise, another section.
