The National Police reported that so far 28 inmates have been recaptured, out of a total of 35 who escaped this Sunday afternoon from the Misiones Penitentiary.
The latest report states that a new inmate was recaptured this Monday afternoon, thus achieving the whereabouts of 28 of the inmates who escaped from the Misiones prison.
In total, 35 inmates escaped, most of them would be members of the Brazilian criminal group, First Capital Command (PCC).
As part of what happened this Sunday, the Ministry of Justice ordered the intervention of the Misiones Regional Penitentiary for a period of 30 days. During this time, Víctor Aliente will remain in charge as auditor.
He will take over to replace the director Virgilio Valenzuela, who was removed from office after the escape of the 35 inmates.
In parallel, the opening of an administrative summary by the Ministry of Justice has been ordered to determine responsibilities, as well as an investigation in the Prosecutor’s Office, in order to clarify the circumstances of the escape.
