In recent days, cases of cadets from the Military Academy have jumped up again, including two women, who would have been victims of torture during their training. One of those affected is found with broken ribs.
Carolina Lezcano, mother of a military cadet victim of alleged torture, told the Gen – Nación Media channel that her family is facing a very difficult time due to this situation and that even her husband became unbalanced because he suffers from hypertension.
The woman said that her son was in his third year of military aviation and that he only had one year left to finish his degree, but that he was fired after a summary of alleged theft of a watch. “They gave me two options, remove him from the place or they were going to send him to Viñas Cue,” she said.
He maintained that after this he found out that his son was being violated by other of his comrades. “My son is shocked, he doesn’t even dare to go out on the street yet, he has broken dreams. His comrades are all outraged, they don’t know which way to go, nor can they speak for fear of reprisals,” he added.
“My son has bruises, mainly to the head. The blows are from several days before. Once they gave him 5 liters of water to drink and they hit his stomach so that he vomited into a bucket and they put his head in there again. And they placed him in the form of a tripod (head towards the ground) for 45 minutes, ”he recounted.
He maintained that it is the most senior soldiers who carry out these tortures on those of lower ranks and that these practices are known to the military authorities, who manage them. “The Colonel admitted that these punishments always existed and will continue,” added the complainant.
“My son identified a Panamanian as one of the aggressors. In the Academy there are foreign cadets who come for exchange”, he further explained.
