A woman filed a complaint to investigate the death of her granddaughter who, according to what she said, “was born healthy and in perfect condition” in the early hours of June 6, and several hours later she was notified of the death, and thus constitutes the first legal action of a relative of one of the five babies who died in a hospital in the capital of Córdoba.
“My 17-year-old daughter had gone into labor on June 5.” last and in the early morning of 6 “They tell me that my granddaughter was born in perfect condition” with a little more 3 kilograms and that the mother was also in good health, Romina told channel 12, the baby’s grandmother.
Almost 24 hours later, at dawn on the 7th, They notified him that the baby had died on the 6th at 6:45 a.m. due to “decompensation” which caused two cardiorespiratory arrests, the woman said.
The lawyer Carlos Nayi, who represents the family of the deceased baby in the case, said that the proceedings have already been presented to the prosecutor Raúl Garzón, in charge of the case, so that they are admitted as a private plaintiff.
“There are five decontextualized deaths”stated the lawyer and in the particular case of his client he said that “neither the mother nor the baby presented complications during the pregnancy or the birth”therefore he described the deaths as “curious and totally far from what normally happens when babies are born”, and announced that he is going to request a “deep investigation”.
Prosecutor Garzón opened the investigation at the request of the Ministry of Health from at least five dead babies reported, between May and June, in the Maternal Neonatal Hospital of the provincial capital, a fact for which several hypotheses are followed, including those of “malpractice and homicide,” said the judicial official .
In the meantime the Health portfolio ordered an internal administrative summary and the hospital authorities and 23 employees were preventively separated from their functions.
