MEXICO CITY, Mexico.- Mexican authorities rescued 368 migrants, sheltered in a clandestine camp in Chiapas. Among the group of migrants, which the Mexican government described as “abandoned”, three of Cuban nationality reported.
According to the statement, after receiving notifications that there were people in the area who would be transferred to the border with the United States of America, the personnel of the National Institute of Migration went to the place.
After providing them with medical attention and water, they organized their transfer to the Border Transit Assistance Center, “where they will receive consular assistance to define their legal situation and, where appropriate, proceed with their assisted return,” the Aztec authorities explained.

Cubans exposed to human trafficking
Cuba currently lives an unprecedented exodus which exceeded all previous figures and continues to grow, due to the acute economic crisis and the lack of freedoms on the island.
One of the main “escape routes” used by Cubans leaves from Havana to Nicaragua, and then passes through Mexico as a door to the United States.
Last September, Mexican authorities found Cubans along with hundreds of migrants inside an abandoned truck.
“National Guards went to the place and had contact with the car, dry box type, parked on the side of the road; As they approached, they realized that the operator was not there and heard screams coming from inside the vehicle,” the authorities argued.
A month later, they arrested 14 people from the island who were part of a caravan led by human traffickers.
According to the report, the nationals —who were deprived of their liberty— were rescued by members of the San Luis Potosí Secretariat for Citizen Security and Protection after a confrontation with armed civilians who were moving in a convoy over the Ejido Tampaya, in Ciudad Valleys.
The human traffickers were heavily armed and opened fire on law enforcement officers after noticing the start of the operation.
