They find the body of a missing fisherman in the Caroní River

After two days of intense search, the lifeless body of Carlos Peñalver, 51, was found on the banks of the Campo Rojo sector on the morning of this Monday, December 29.

Peñalver, affectionately known by his community as “Gasolina”, had disappeared last Saturday after being swept away by the current of the Caroní River. The tragic event occurred in the vicinity of the Macagua Hydroelectric Power Plant.

According to reports, Peñalver was carrying out artisanal fishing in the company of an uncle when the sudden rise in flow, caused by the opening of the reservoir’s gates, surprised those present.

While other fishermen managed to get to safety, “Gasolina” was dragged by the force of the water, which began an intense search.

In another case, in the state of Zulia, authorities located the lifeless body of Roberto Enrique Vivas Villalobos, 53, in the vicinity of a lighting tower in the Vereda del Lago park.

Vivas had left his home on the weekend for a walking tour and remained missing for more than 24 hours, until his relatives reported his absence to the competent authorities.
