Officials of the Scientific, Criminal and Criminal Investigation Corps (Cicpc) reported that they are conducting investigations into the murder of journalist Marlin Goitia. Although the first hypotheses pointed to a possible robbery, relatives of the victim indicated that in the house where the body of the communicator was found there were no signs of violence.
Journalist Marlin del Valle Goitia Muchati, 29, was found dead at her residence, located in the Santa Inés sector, in Maturín, Monagas state. Local media reported that the communicator’s corpse was bound by hands and feet, with signs of strangulation.
The reports indicated that the discovery occurred at approximately 8:00 pm. Officials of the Scientific, Penal and Criminal Investigation Corps (Cicpc) arrived at the site to carry out the removal of the body and start the investigations.

Although the first hypotheses point to a possible robbery, family members of the victim reported that there were no traces of violence in the journalist’s house. Goitia lived alone in the place and that she did not practice her profession.
relatives told Monagas Press that on Monday, May 15, a friend of the victim wrote to Marlin to deliver something she had borrowed from him, but she did not keep the appointment. Another young woman attended who is now detained for this case.
The relatives said that Goitía did not leave children and was single and that she had “visual problems.”
After Goitia’s murder, the Venezuelan Press and Society Institute (IPYS) regretted the crime and demanded that the authorities open an investigation to find the person or persons responsible for the murder of the journalist.
