transferred migrants
The region is experiencing a record migratory flow, as reflected in the detention of 2.76 million undocumented immigrants at the United States border with Mexico in fiscal year 2022.
The arrest of the trailer occurred at one of the checkpoints at the entrance to Chiapa de Corzo, a few kilometers from where the emblematic migrant tragedy of 2021 occurred, when 56 undocumented people died in a road accident while traveling in similar conditions.
The authorities detained the operator of the cargo transportation unit and another person identified as responsible for charging them to take them to the United States border.
