Officials from the port of Algeciras (south) discovered the hidden cargo in a shipment of frozen hake after intelligence work.
MADRID. The authorities of Spain seized from 2,011 kilos of cocaine (2 tons) arrived at the port of Algeciras (south) in a container from Ecuadorduring a regular customs control of this type of packaging from South America.
The security forces and the Tax Agency explained this Friday (January 28, 2022) that the agents were aware of the arrival of various pieces of equipment from Ecuador and, after a thorough risk analysis, they suspected that one of them might be carrying camouflaged drugs.
In one of them, which contained frozen hake, they found 1,741 tablets of a white and floury substance, hidden in two pallets, and which gave a positive result for cocaine in the narcotics test.
The police court of Algeciras directs investigations to try to identify the people related to this mailing drug. EFE
