The tunnel was located next to Gate 28 of the border wall between Mexico and the United States, very close to the Humanity Park, in a storm drain of the city of El Paso, Texas.
According to an information card released by the Mexican Government, security agents deployed in Ciudad Juárez received citizen reports about the presence of people entering a sewer.
Due to the above, the uniformed officers carried out surveillance tours on Boulevard IV Siglos, in order to corroborate the information. It was then that the storm drain was found.
After taking a tour inside the tunnel, it was detected that there were clothes and backpacks, presumably used by people who entered the United States illegally.
Mexican and US authorities opened an investigation to detect possible human and drug trafficking through this clandestine tunnel.
On the Mexican side, authorities sealed the tunnel and were deployed in uniform to protect the area and began searching for other similar tunnels.
