The sanitary requirements for entering the country underwent some changes due to the epidemiological situation that occurs with the announcement of the new Omicron variant.

The document includes “special restrictions” for travelers from South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Angola.

In this case, non-resident foreigners in Paraguay who have visited these African countries in the last two weeks will not be allowed to enter. It is clarified that this is a “temporary measure” to be modified according to the availability of new evidence and the epidemiological situation in our country regarding the Omicron VOC.

Nationals or foreigners residing in our country who have visited these 10 countries in the last two weeks before entering Paraguayan soil must keep preventive isolation at their home, hotel or place of residence for the 10 days following arrival. Likewise, they must present a PCR test upon admission with a negative result carried out in a time not exceeding 72 hours.

A new PCR test must also be carried out on day 5, to be counted from the day of taking the sample of the test presented at the time of arrival in the country (OBS: day 1 is fulfilled 24 hours after taking that sample ).

The traveler will be monitored by telephone regarding their health condition by a Rapid Response Team of the Surveillance System of the Ministry of Health, at the level of health regions and Health Surveillance Directorate.

SPECIAL SITUATIONS

Exceptional situations are contemplated for foreigners, investors, specialized technicians, humanitarian causes, diplomatic missions and other special cases from South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia and Angola who require to enter Paraguay for a time. less than 5 days.

In this type of case, the interested party must request an authorization to enter the country as far as possible 72 hours in advance to the Interinstitutional Coordination Center (CCI) by email [email protected] or to the number +595 981 813 573.

Entry will be authorized by the CCI in coordination with the Border Surveillance and Control Directorate.

In the event that the stay is extended for a longer time, it must be authorized by the CCI with a prior notification of 72 hours to the email or WhatsApp number mentioned above.

Those interested in entering the country must provide a schedule of activities and the requirements established above.

REQUIREMENTS IN SPECIAL SITUATIONS

Before entering the national territory, the beneficiaries must submit the application to the Interinstitutional Coordination Center (CCI) with:

*Personal information

*Reason for trip

* Length of stay in the country

*Hotel reservation

* Address of residence during your stay

* Telephone number of a responsible contact (contracting entity)

* Type of transport for transfers within the national territory

* Report on the presence of any underlying disease

* Certification of international health insurance coverage

* Indication of the name of the beneficiary company or institution in case of specialized assistance

* Tentative schedule of activities and places where the activities that motivate your trip will take place

* Certificate of vaccination against COVID-19 with complete schedule

* Complete the traveler’s health declaration form within 24 hours prior to entering the country

After arriving in Paraguay, the following requirements must be met:

* Accredit the negative result of the PCR test no more than 72 hours prior to entering the country, in an accredited and authorized laboratory in the country of origin or transit.

* QR code that certifies that you completed the traveler’s declaration form

* People who have contracted COVID-19 from 14 to 90 days prior to entering the country must present a test with a negative result by any of the available detection techniques.

Already during the stay on Paraguayan soil, these will be the requirements to meet:

* Maintain a daily record of the people with whom he had contact during the day.

* Daily self-assessment of the main characteristic signs and symptoms of COVID-19. In the event that they arrive, keep isolation in the place of lodging or hotel room and notify the occupational health program of the company and the Ministry of Health.

* In case of presenting symptoms, you should also contact 154 to provide details and inform in what condition you entered the country.
