Three hospitals and an institute of the Ministry of Health (Ssa) were recognized among the best internationally, according to the publication The best hospitals in the world of the global data firm Statista and the magazine Newsweek, reported the agency.
These are the Dr. Manuel Gea González and Mexico Dr. Eduardo Liceaga general hospitals; the Children of Mexico Dr. Federico Gómez, as well as the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition Salvador Zubirán.
The Gea González and General de México units, out of a total of 58 selected in the country, rank eighth and 11th, respectively. Meanwhile, the Federico Gómez and the Nutrition Institute are classified as specialty units.
This year they selected 250 best hospitals in the world, out of 2,300 evaluated in Germany, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, South Korea, Denmark, United Arab Emirates, Spain, Finland, France, the Netherlands, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Norway, United Kingdom, Singapore, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan and Thailand.
The countries were chosen based on comparability factors such as life standards and expectancy, population size, number of hospitals and data availability, it was detailed in a statement. General satisfaction and medical care, as well as the recommendation of the hospital were the categories taken into account. They also counted the metrics of treatment quality, hygiene measures, patient safety, and the number of medical and nursing professionals per patient, among others.
