The ex-combatants of Malvinas de Rosario were distinguished by that municipality, “for contributing to democratic, cultural and social progress, and for embodying the values of will, solidarity and respect”, with the Order of the Rosary, a valuable medal made by local goldsmiths which was delivered to them in an act in the National Monument to the Flag, on which a mapping was projected in his honor.
The “Order of the Rosary” distinction was awarded to the Center for Ex-Combatant Soldiers in Malvinas Rosario within the framework of the celebrations for Flag Day and to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Malvinas War, “as thanks for their outstanding collective work and its strong social commitment to the city”, highlighted from the municipality.
“This distinction three days after a national celebration as important as the Day of our Flag is a great pride,” said the President of the Center for Veterans, Claudino Chamorro.
“We are very happy to belong to this prestigious institution that has earned the respect of our society through constant work,” he emphasized.
In that sense, he said: “When we returned from Malvinas we sought the goal of keeping the memory of our heroes alive, of having the Malvinas cause always present; and by organizing ourselves we were able to transform that pain and anger that the war left us into solidarity actions like the ones we have been doing for 30 years”.
The ex-combatants carry out a great solidarity task, they have assisted in all the catastrophes that the city of Rosario suffered and the region such as recent floods, the tragic explosion of the Salta street building and even during the pandemic continued their solidarity work.
The distinction, that includes the delivery of an object of value, in addition to a sense of public recognition, was created by decree by the Executive to recognize “citizens and institutions that have always been committed to the values of responsibility, will, solidarity, respect, values that come together in a recognition that welcomes the defense, promotion and development of democracy, human rights, the plurality of voices, the diversities, which deserve the gratitude of the city”.
The jewel given to the ex-combatants was made by Rosario goldsmith Miguel Tomé and textile jeweler Romina Coletta.
It is a silver medal with an elaborate shield in which the legend “Honor and glory” can be seen, and is held by a necklace created from different fabrics of the national colors, developed through dyes.
During the ceremony, which began at 7:00 p.m. at the prow of the National Monument to the Flag, a video mapping was projected in which images alluding to the ex-combatants were seen.
From a distance and in giant letters, the same phrase that was engraved on the medal could be read on the central tower of the Monument, emphasizing the message of gratitude that the people of Rosario have for their veterans.
