The The Prosecutor’s Office filed and dismissed the complaints against the Minister of Public Works, Édgar Montaño, for the events that he starred in and led during the two days of departmental strike in Santa Cruz (August 8 and 9), when he commanded masismo shock groups that unblocked the points installed by the neighbors who demanded that the Government listen to the proposal for the Population and Housing Census to be carried out in 2023.

“The undersigned prosecutor of the matter rejects this complaint because the factual relationship is treated in an atypical figure, all the aforementioned legal arguments must be taken into account”, reads the report of the Prosecutor’s Office that was exposed by Cadena A.

Among the complaints against Montaño were the following crimes:
improper use of influence, improper use of state assets, breach of duties, criminal association, public incitement to commit a crime, criminal organization and possession, possession or carrying of non-conventional weapons.

The complaints against the minister were made, each on their own, by deputies Jairo Guiteras (Citizen Community) and Andrés Romero (We Believe), who observed that Montaño organized groups of masistas to lift the blockades at the point of ‘firecrackers’ and with the help of machinery and vans that would supposedly be owned by the State.

Regarding the complaints, the minister maintained that Camacho is the one who sends the deputies to denounce him and stated that if they finalize the processes against him it would be the first time in Bolivia that they try to prosecute an authority “for enforcing the law and the citizen’s right to freedom of movement,” as he says occurred on the strike days recorded on August 8 and 9 in the department of Santa Cruz.

montano, instead of allowing free protest of the citizens who were in favor of the Population and Housing Census being carried out at the end of the first semester of 2023, went out to unlock causing discomfortand even fear, among the mobilized neighbors.
