The National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and the Customs Directoratesupported by the Specialized Airport Security Corps and members of the Public Ministry, dismantled a drug trafficking network dedicated to buying and bringing large amounts of marijuana into the country, from the United States, to later distribute it in exclusive areas of the National District and Greater Santo Domingo .
Through arduous intelligence work, anti-narcotics agents, they arrested to five peoplepart of the leaders of this structure, in the midst of a simultaneous operation carried out at the Punta Cana International Airport, La Altagracia province and several raids carried out in the Piantini, Arroyo Hondo and Ciudad Real sectors, of the National District.
The authorities arrested two young men of 21 and 24 years old, in the Punta Cana terminal, to whom they occupied four suitcases, inside which they had distributed 38 packages of marijuana, as well as several envelopes of sweets, with dozens of chewing gums, made from cannabis.
A third person, who according to reports belongs to this international drug trafficking network, was arrested and it is expected that together with the other defendants, coercive measures will be known in the next few hours.
As part of the monitoring of these tasks, the authorities carried out two raids on an apartment tower located on El Retiro street near the corner of José Amado Soler, in the Ensanche Piantini, where they arrested two Venezuelans (a 27-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman), from whom they confiscated two packages of marijuana, 480 vapes and 12 cartridges filled with a liquid that appears to be from the plant, 255 envelopes of gummies (gummies), as well as several portions of the substance .
They also seized four shredders, two tobacco rolling machines, 12 trays, a pipe, a Dongfeng brand jeep, model 500, red, license plate G589110 and a Loncin motorcycle, cash among other evidence.
Likewise, 212 pen-type vapes were seized, filled with a liquid that appears to be marijuana, dozens of sleeves and paper to pack controlled substances, as well as 18 plastic containers containing traces of narcotics, several flight tickets, among other evidence.
Then the operational teams, accompanied by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, moved to the Residencial Keyla, on Paseo del Arroyo street, in Arroyo Hondo, to carry out another search, where they seized a laptop, seven cell phones and other equipment, which will help strengthen and expand the investigation.
Finally, an apartment located in Ciudad Real II, in the Republic of Colombia, was legally intervened. At the time of the search, the property was uninhabited and empty.

The Public Ministry and the DNCDactivate the location of other members of this international drug trafficking network, while they continue to deepen the investigation into the case, which they have been monitoring for several months.
