Santo Domingo.-The prosecutor’s office of Peravia obtained coercion measures against members of a network that issued irregular birth certificates to Haitians from the Nizao Office, Peravia province.
Judge Laida Amador declared the complex case and imposed pretrial detention for Amauri Rosario Aybar, and economic guarantee and periodic presentation to Stalen Falcón, Juan Javier Mariñez Guillén, Elizabeth Mercedes García, Quilcy Paulino and subjectyri Mercedes Sánchez. Rosario Aybar will serve in the Baní prison.
The defendants were arrested in raids in Nizao, Santana, Pizarrete, Don Gregorio and Baní.
The structure, which included the employees of the Office, was directed by María del Carmen Arias Castillo, a fugitive with Dominga Valdez, both with arrest orders.
The network falsified the birth certificates and supplanted identities to benefit Haitians.
The investigation has support from the Central Electoral Board (JEC) and several of its directions, as well as the DICRIM.
