The General Directorate of Citizen Security of the Maracaibo Mayor’s Office managed to capture a subject involved in the theft of air conditioning equipment and possession of narcotics. The procedure was carried out in the city’s Gourmet Zone Three.
The operation, framed in the civic-military-police union, made it possible to neutralize a criminal focus that operated in the vicinity of the old Burger King, on 5 de Julio Avenue.
This action seeks to guarantee the tranquility of merchants and the community that makes life in this important commercial sector.
Captain Marcos Amaya, general director of Citizen Security of Maracaibo, reported that the deployment was activated after receiving a report from the owner of a premises affected by the theft of an air conditioner.
“We are deployed in the heart of Maracaibo. Our intelligence units acted thoroughly to establish responsibilities and find this positive result that returns peace to the commercial sector,” Amaya highlighted.
The operation was carried out in institutional synergy with the participation of members of the Bolivarian National Guard, the Ombudsman’s Office and the Public Ministry.
Amaya stated that the absolute priority is the well-being of the Marabinos: “We continue to advance with firm steps towards a safer city.”
Likewise, he stressed that these joint operations are vital to eradicate micro-trafficking and property crimes in recovered public spaces.
In parallel to patrol and capture actions, the General Directorate of Citizen Security has prioritized education as a social protection measure.
On this occasion, more than 200 young people from the town were assisted with strategic training designed to provide them with key tools in crime prevention and management of security protocols to avoid being victims of robbery or situations of violence in their communities.
