Villahermosa, Tab., A judge in Tabasco issued Hernán Bermúdez Requena, former Secretary of Public Security of the entity and alleged leader of the criminal group on Friday. The accused, in turn, reserved his right to declare for the accusations of the criminal case 386/2025 in which the former police chief is accused of said illicit ones of common jurisdiction.
The hearing was held through a videoconference in the Altiplano prison, in Almoloya, State of Mexico, headed by the Judicial Region 9 of Villahermosa Judicial Judge.
The legal situation of Bermúdez in relation to the accusations made by the Attorney General of the State of Tabasco will be resolved next Tuesday in the continuation of the hearing because the former official accepted the duplicity of the constitutional term.
Bermúdez will be imprisoned in the Mexican penalty of the Altiplano, and there is no indications that he can be transferred to Tabasco due to the federal charges he also faces.
This Friday, the president of the TSJ, Carlos Reséndez, in a collective interview, rejected that there is a political persecution in the State against Bermúdez.
Meanwhile, the state prosecutor, Óscar Tonatiuh Vázquez, said that the former secretary could be sentenced to 158 years in prison in case of being guilty for the crimes of the common law.
“The penalty that would reach would be, as regards the kidnapping, from 50 to 100 years; by criminal association, from 7.5 to 18 years, and by extortion, from 20 to 40 years,” said Reséndez.
Until the closing of this edition, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) had not informed if the Federal Apprehension Order had already been completed to Bermúdez Requena.
