Dictan 20 años de prisión contra hombre que mató a su yerno en La Vega

THE VEGA.– A court in this demarcation issued a 20-year prison sentence against a man who killed his son-in-law by shooting him with a firearm without documentation, in an incident that occurred in the Los Hoyos community, Barranca, in 2018.

José Manuel García Santos, alias La Perla, was sentenced by the First Collegiate Court, after he was found guilty of having caused the death of Adderlin Manuel Acevedo Jorge.

The accusatory file presented by the Public Ministry indicates that García Santos did not agree with the relationship that his daughter had with the victim, with whom she had been married for three months.

The event occurred around 5:00 in the afternoon of September 23, 2018, while Acevedo Jorge was traveling on a motorcycle through the aforementioned community.

García Santos, who was also passing through the place on a motorcycle, chased his son-in-law and when he caught up with him, he took out his firearm and shot him in the chest, killing him immediately.

The accusation indicates that after committing the crime the defendant pointed a gun at a friend who was accompanying the victim and told him to leave.

The head prosecutor of La Vega, Aura Luz García Martínez, said that during the process sufficient documentary, testimonial and material evidence was provided that put the court in a position to pass the conviction in this case.

The court ordered the sentence to be served at the El Pinito Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR), located in the city of La Vega.
