They determine house arrest of the supervisor and the contractor of the work that collapsed and caused the death of two people in La Paz

According to the Bolivian Information Agency (ABI), the jurisdictional authority, after hearing precautionary measures, determined the house arrest of the supervisor and the construction contractor that collapsed and killed two workers in the La Florida area of ​​the city of La Paz.

“The Prosecutor’s Office has issued arrests against two citizens initially, who have been the object of precautionary measures developed on Sunday (…) at the request of the Prosecutor’s Office to provide precautionary measures through house arrest, this request has been processed,” reported the deputy director of the Special Force to Fight Crime (Felcc), Juan José Donaire, quoted by ABI.

According to Donaire, both accused are charged with the crime of manslaughter, because there was evidence of labor-related faults regarding the implementation of works, which caused the collapse of the slope of the work that was being carried out on Calle 15 de Calacoto and caused the death of two workers and another injured. Hence both defendants must present two solvent guarantors. In addition, they have to appear every Monday in order to appear before the Prosecutor’s Office.

Likewise, Donaire announced that it is expected that in the next few hours the owner of the company will be summoned to testify Salinas Real Estate Developer (Disa).

Extension of the investigation

Meanwhile, the Municipality of La Paz reported this Monday that he requested the South Zone Prosecutor’s Office aExpand the investigation against the legal representative of the Disa company and an official of the Mayor’s Office of Palca which, supposedly, authorized the movement of earth in the construction, which it qualifies as illegal, of Av. Los Álamos de Calacoto.

According to the Mayor’s Office in La Paz, the construction site belongs to its jurisdiction, and andthe municipality did not authorize the start of the works.

“It is noted that through GAMP/MSC/010/21 of November 22, 2021, allegedly issued by the Head of the Land Registry and Territorial Administration Unit of the Mayor’s Office of Palca, the company Disa is authorized to move 21,000 cubic meters of earth of the slope, a fact that originated the collapse of the same with the balance of two deceased people”, indicates the La Paz Municipality, through its news agency.

The Legal Director of the Mayor’s Office of La Paz, José Gonzáles, explained that it was requested that what happened be investigated; From his perspective, the official from Palca “He would have usurped functions, failed to fulfill duties and, consequently, he would also be responsibleat least one of these people, for negligent homicide and the other person responsible for the company (Disa) for the crime of other havoc with a custodial sentence of up to eight years in prison, ”says the Municipal News Agency.
