They detect premises in Multiplaza that do not comply with the regulation on the use of reusable oils and fats

Four restaurants with an anomaly were detected by the Authority for the Protection of Consumers and Defense of Competition (Acodeco) and the Ministry of Health (Minsa), during a verification carried out in the premises of the food court (food court) of the Multiplaza shopping center.

This inspection, on compliance with current regulations on the use of reusable oils and fats, was carried out in 24 restaurants.

In accordance with the Acodeco the technical regulation “RT DGNTI-COPANIT 87-2021, Reusable Edible Oils and Fats. Characteristics”, establishes the quality standards that reusable greases must maintain. For this reason, it is important that consumers be alert about the characteristics of edible oils and fats, since they must have a clean appearance, must not have a bad smell, or a sour or rancid taste, according to the regulations.

The administrator of Acodeco, Jorge Quintero Quirós, said that it is important to carry out these inspections of the grease traps and highlighted that the grease monitors used by this institution were approved by the Specialized Institute of Analysis (IEA) of the University of Panama and They have the approval of the National Directorate of Food Control of the Ministry of Health.

It should be noted that, in the event of a complaint, the respective verification is carried out in order to verify it.
