This Monday morning, an incident was recorded on line 2 of the Santo Domingo Subway when users had difficulty getting around due to a strong smell of smoke at the Concepción Bona station.

People gathered after 7:00 in the morning because the trains were not loading the passengers, who were disoriented because no one reported what was happening. After almost an hour the service was resumed, but the smoke remained in the station.

Two hours later, the Office for the Reorganization of Transport (Opret) reported that the cause of the smoke was “a breakdown” of one of the trains at the Manuel de Jesús Galván station, which “caused a delay of 13 minutes in circulation of Line 2, which runs from the María Montez station to Concepción Bona”.

“The problem was fixed minutes later. The service continues to be offered normally and does not affect the safety of users”, concludes the Opret statement and apologized for the inconvenience to passengers.
