Human rights organizations and Buenos Aires legislators denounced this Friday the vandalization of a mural located in a Liniers square that pays homage to the history of the neighborhood and to the different struggles such as that of the workers of the Lisandro de la Torre refrigerator and the deed of Madres y Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo.
the situation was denounced by the Commune 9 Commission for Memory, Truth and Justice on the mural painted years ago in the green space located in Larrazábal and Caaguazú and which bears the name of Isidora Crego, Mother of Plaza de Mayo.
“Today we have found the whitewashed mural of Plaza Isidora. It is a mural made by the main muralists in Argentina that deserved to be nominated for public interest by the City Legislature and appears in documentaries on muralism,” the Commission indicated.

In that sense, they attributed the attack to “part of this moment of denialism and hate”after which they indicated that They will respond “as always, with the same gesture and the same imprint learned every Thursday in the rounds of Plaza de Mayo. We will rebuild it again because Memory cannot be covered”.
For her part, the Deputy Laura Velasco, from the Frente de Todos (FdT)expressed his “Strong repudiation of the vandalism perpetrated on the mural that was declared of interest due to its importance for culture and Human Rights.”
“The mural reviewed the history of the neighborhood: the struggle of the workers of Lisandro de la Torre, the deed of Mothers and Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo who were great promoters of Human Rights in our country, the struggle of the native communities embodied in Santiago Maldonado Maldonado, young people killed by the easy trigger and the feminist struggle embodied in the green wave”, he specified.
