The Argentine Federation of Cartoneros, Carreros and Recyclers (FACCyR) denounced this Thursday that the Police of the City of Buenos Aires “repressed and detained” twelve members of the organization in the framework of a “peaceful mobilization”, where they demanded salary discounts, parity and improvements in the Buenos Aires Green Centers, what which led to demonstrations in front of the prosecution and some political leaders.
“The City Police repressed and arrested six colleagues in the peaceful mobilization that we were carrying out from the Federation and Amanecer de los Cartoneros for parity and improvements in the Green Centers of the City. We are in a state of alert and mobilization and we demand the immediate release of our compañeros and compañeras. Not one more prisoner or prisoner for fighting!” the FACCyR said on its Facebook page.
Later, the City Police arrested another six protesters and the cooperative members gathered before the Buenos Aires prosecutor’s office at Combate de los Pozos 155demanding the freedom of their companions, according to what was confirmed to Télam from the organization.
As they had previously communicated on their social networks, the FACCyR and the Amanecer de los Cartoneros cooperative today mobilized the Undersecretary of Urban Hygiene and the General Directorate of Recycling Operations (DGOR) to “peacefully claim the abrupt discount to salaries of a large part of the workers of our cooperative”.

In addition to these “arbitrary salary discounts”, Cartoneros is in the middle of a joint negotiation and they are looking for the Buenos Aires Government to “give them the support to carry out maintenance tasks for the Green Centers of all the cooperatives that carry out collection work and recycling in the City of Buenos Aires”.
And they pointed against the Buenos Aires government that, they said, “responds with an enormous and excessive police deployment.”
The Buenos Aires legislator of the Frente de Todos Ofelia Fernández demanded that the head of government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, release the detainees.
“You have to be a cover to ask them to applaud your green city and then not pay them, repress and arrest the scavengers who are the ones who collect and recover the waste. Release the detainees now and stop trying to solve problems by shitting people with sticks , Horacio Rodríguez Larreta,” wrote Ofelia Fernández on Twitter.
We don’t even know what police station they are in and the police keep hunting people

The national deputies of the Frente de Todos Itaí Hagman and Federico Fagioli and the social leader Juan Grabois also asked on their social networks for the freedom of the detainees.
