In this 2023, teachers and other public administration workers have led protests across the country to demand wage claims. “The State has been applying anti-union policies and stigmatizing the protest,” Fidel Brito, president of the Federation of Bolivar Workers (Fetrabolívar) told Correo del Caroní.
The general secretary of the College of Teachers in Bolívar, Aida González, denounced school directors and supervisors for violating the right to protest that teachers make in demand for fair wages.
González recalled that the claims include the discussion of collective bargaining, expired in 2020, for the rescue of their social demands. However, he assured that educators are threatened to complain and are victims of workplace harassment.

In this sense, he emphasized the violations of articles 356 and 362 of the Organic Law of Labor, Workers and Workers (Lottt), which prohibit workplace harassment, and vindicates the protest in favor of their rights.
“Teachers fight wage claims, HCM, funeral services, minimum conditions in each institution. Now they are threatened with the PAE (School Feeding Program), but the Educational Zone violates the right to food because it is not adequate food according to the nutritional system,” said González.
In this regard, he pointed out that the children of teachers are also violated the right to food, and among them there are cases of malnutrition.
For his part, Fidel Brito, president of the Federation of Bolivar Workers (Fetrabolívar), expressed his solidarity with the Venezuelan teachers.
“The State has been applying anti-union policies and stigmatizing the protest. The State violates the norms of human rights, that is why the organized union movements have been participating in the tripartite dialogue tables, expressing to the ILO (International Labor Organization) these multiple violations of the State against the working people. From Fetrabolívar we are in the streets demanding dignity and respect for the human rights of the working people”, he stated.
In this 2023, teachers -in addition to workers from basic companies- have starred in the main street demonstrations in the country, demanding decent wages anchored to the dollar and adjusted to hyperinflation in Venezuela.
