They denounce violent seizure of a farm in Alto Biobío by an indigenous group

The Agricultural Society of Biobío (Socabio) reported that a Pehuenche group violently took over a farm in Alto Biobío, threatening local workers.

Through a video, the complainants assure that “with total impunity, an undetermined group of hooded men, possibly armed, took over the land of Fundo San Miguel in Alto Biobío, demanding possession of these lands.”

“Regarding this demand, threats of usurpation have already begun against farmers in the Alto Biobío sector, in particular Fundo San Antonio, Fundo Pangue and the summer areas, which directly affects more than 100 families, most of them farmers and ranchers from the area,” they added.

The president of Socabio, Jose Miguel Stegmeierreported that they have received death threats through social networks including their families and those of authorities.
