Mexico City, Mexico.- According to a call received by the family, the political prisoner and protester of the July 11 Lisandra Góngora would have been transferred to a prison on the Isla de la Juventud.
The activist Marcel Valdés denounced on his social networks that Ángel Delgado, ex-husband of the protester, received a call from another inmate where she told him that she was transferred and would be in isolation for eight days; so she would not have access to the phone at that time.
According to Ángel, yesterday he and his four children together visited gongora in the prison but no one told them that they would take her to another center. However, she was struck by the fact that one of the prison authorities approached the children and treated the family kindly.
If the transfer is confirmed, Lisandra would be 160 kilometers from her home and the only way to visit her would be by boat or plane. Which would make it difficult for this mother to meet her underage children.
Taking political prisoners away from their families and sending them to remote prisons so they cannot visit them is a common State Security tactic. To the Lady in White Aymara Grandson they moved her 600 kilometers from her residence to make it difficult for her family to visit. She couldn’t see her daughters for two years.
Why are they harassing Lysandra?
Since Lysandra was arrested after the massive demonstrations of 2021, the activist has kept denouncing everything that happens in prison. She even recently signed a letter with her own blood asking Pope Francis to ask for the release of Cuban political prisoners.
From outside, her ex-partner, in addition to taking care of the children, has reported the violations against her and demands her release. For this reason he is harassed by the political police who seek to silence him and they have warned him that custody of the children can be withdrawn from him.
Last year in a letter written in her own handwriting, and which was disseminated through social networks, Góngora recounted that a prosecutor, whom she identified as “Chabeco”, threatened her to take custody of her ex-husband. their children. Her response to all the blackmail has been to denounce them and maintain that she does not negotiate with the dictatorship.
Góngora is serving a 14-year sentence for demonstrating in Güira de Melena. He is accused of having attacked a store in MLC, although the images only show her on the outskirts of the center. What Góngora did do was go out and ask for the end of the dictatorship in Cuba, as he had done periodically at his direct address before taking to the streets.
