They denounce the entry of a Cuban repressor into the US thanks to the humanitarian parole program

MIAMI, United States. – The journalist from CubaNet Roberto de Jesús Quiñones Haces, currently in exile in the United States, denounced in a letter addressed to this outlet, that a former member of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and repressor recently entered the northern country thanks to the program of parole humanitarian law approved by the Biden administration.

“He recently arrived in this country, thanks to the program parole, the Cuban citizen Amalio Alfaro Matos, who until a few months ago was the president of the Criminal Chamber of the People’s Provincial Court of Guantanamo and is a member of the Communist Party of Cuba,” Quiñones Haces wrote in the letter.

The letter details that Alfaro Matos, as a judge in the Criminal Chamber of the Guantanamo Provincial Court, was responsible for applying the repressive policy of the PCC and State Security against those who peacefully demonstrated against the communist dictatorship in July 2021.

“He signed severe prison sentences against those citizens who only exercised their right to publicly express their claims and rights,” says Quiñones Haces.

The journalist, who has resided in the United States since 2019, alleges that this same individual was the one who denied him the right to an appeal in 2019, after he was sentenced to one year in prison for alleged crimes of resistance and disobedience.

According to Quiñones Haces, who was attacked and injured by a police officer, Alfaro Matos’s actions were “reflected in the appeal judgment issued on August 23, 2019 in Guantanamo.”

Quiñones Haces also suggests that the Cuban repressor may have lied to the US authorities upon entering the country. “This individual surely lied to the US authorities by not informing about his status as a PCC militant, but surely he also did not inform about his status as a repressive judge of the Cuban people, dependent on and at the service of the PCC and State Security,” he affirms.

In the letter itself, the journalist offered his collaboration to the US authorities to provide documents and information that, according to him, prove that Alfaro Matos should not be admitted to the United States. “I am willing to cooperate with the US authorities to provide them with the documents I have and other information that conclusively prove that this individual cannot be admitted to the United States of America,” he concludes in his letter.
