MADRID, Spain.- The Cuban government has been involved in crimes against humanity committed by Chavismo in Venezuela, denounced a report presented this week at the plenary session of the UN Human Rights Council, held in Geneva.
The documentwritten by the Independent International Mission to Determine the Facts, on Venezuela stated that repressors of the regime advised the repressors in that country.
“Several former officials of the DGCIM told the Mission that agents of the Cuban State have instructed, advised and participated in intelligence and counterintelligence activities with the DGCIM,” states the document, released in a preliminary manner on September 21.
The General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (DGCIM), together with the Bolivarian Intelligence Service (SEBIN), are the two security organs of the Venezuelan State directly related to a series of atrocities, torture, cruel treatment and detentions in clandestine places, among other patterns that are repeated in Venezuela, under the Government of Nicholas Maduro.
The Mission indicated that it was also able to review the confidential written agreements between the governments of Venezuela and Cuba, “in which the Cuban government was formally granted a role in the restructuring of the Venezuelan military counterintelligence services and in the training of officers.”
These agreements date back to 2006 and the cooperation is still in force, adds the text.
The report stated that “Venezuela’s intelligence agencies, both civilian and military, function as well-coordinated and effective structures for the execution of a plan, orchestrated from the highest levels of the Government, to repress dissent by committing crimes of It hurts humanity”.
The International Independent Fact-Finding Mission on Venezuela is an observation force established in 2019 to study the human rights situation in the Venezuelan dictatorship.
