Alejandro Rebolledo left the country after his swearing-in on July 21, 2017 as a TSJ “magistrate” by the National Assembly, due to the arrest warrants against that group of magistrates. In October 2018, he left the TSJ in exile, along with Tomás Alzuru, under the argument that the decisions made by that body are inapplicable in practice.
This Tuesday, former criminal judge and former magistrate Alejandro Rebolledo was arrested after appearing before a court in Caracas. This was reported by journalist Vladimir Villegas on his social networks.
According to Villegas, the lawyer had returned to the country a few days ago “to resolve his legal situation” and appeared voluntarily for a request issued by the 27th Control Court. “After being sentenced to deprivation of liberty, he was detained in the Sebin and was assigned a public defender.”
Rebolledo, a doctor of law and a specialist in the prevention of organized crime, was appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court of Justice by the National Assembly in 2017, to revert to the “express magistrates” appointed under the directive of Diosdado Cabello in December 2015.
