The group of residents of the Caballito neighborhood that opposes the construction of a linear park on Honorio Pueyrredón avenue reported that the Buenos Aires government increased the funds allocated to the work by 260%, for which they insisted on requesting the cancellation of the project.
The complaint responds to the projection of expenses foreseen in the Buenos Aires Budget for 2023, which was approved a week ago in the local Legislature, in which an item of $1,439,553,774 is consigned for the modification of the avenue from the closing of half of its lanes to install a green corridor there.
The proposal of the management of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta it was announced for Honorio Pueyrredón avenue in September 2021 with a budget of $400,000,000, however it was stopped at the beginning of the year due to the order of the local Justice based on an appeal filed by the neighborhood movement that warned of the negative impact of the work in road and environmental matters.
After eight months of interruption, the jobs restarted in October after judicial authorization which evaluated that there were no longer reasons to keep the work paralyzed and after the presentation by the local government of some previously demanded requirements.
“Without any kind of shame, but mainly without any kind of justification, the false linear park that cost us $400 million, will now cost a whopping $1,400 million”, They indicated from the group in a statement.
And they pointed out that “it is a 260% increase, when the estimated inflation projection that the Buenos Aires government took for next year is 60%”, for which they concluded that “there is nothing to justify such an increase.”
In that framework, They asked the Minister of Public Space, Clara Muzzio, “the definitive cancellation of this disastrous project and the formation of a Working Group between the Government and the community.”
