Santo Domingo. – Two entities that work with vulnerable communities denounced the lack of medicines to complete preventive therapy and in tuberculosis
The Center for Orientation and Comprehensive Research (COIN) and the Human Rights Observatory for People in Vulnerable Conditions explained that this therapy is essential in the management of HIV-infected patients.
They asked the government authorities to make the purchases or take the controls to eliminate the shortage, which they say comes from the year 2021.
They called for measures to be taken to once again guarantee the availability of drugs for tuberculosis preventive therapy in all schemes approved by the authorities.

“The concern of COIN health professionals is a common denominator in the discussion forums among those in charge of comprehensive care services,” said a statement from that non-profit entity.
Fernando Díaz, clinical manager of COINCI, clarified that the efforts of the authorities to improve the performance of the country in terms of compliance with the coverage of tuberculosis preventive therapy are recognized.”
Manuel Meccariello, director of the Human Rights Observatory, recalled that health is a Fundamental Right and people with this condition should never be separated from their treatment scheme, the lack of medication for them becomes a very dangerous situation.
