The mother of a teenager reported an alleged case of medical negligence, after her 16-year-old daughter entered the El Carmen de Huancayo hospital to give birth and ended up removing her uterus. In this regard, the director of the hospital spoke out and stated that the hysterectomy was necessary.

According to the complaint made by the minor’s mother in a local media, her 16-year-old daughter gave birth through a normal delivery. After that, they made her sign some papers without explaining the reason. When she left the operation, the young mother was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. The relatives allege that the surgical interventions had not been recorded and no medical personnel wanted to give them reports on the young woman’s state of health.

In this regard, the director of the El Carmen hospital, Luis Porras, said that the health personnel presented him with a report detailing that the 16-year-old female patient presented placental accreta (a condition in which the placenta adheres abnormal way to the wall of the uterus), which is why she experienced intense bleeding, putting her life at risk, so the indication was removal of the uterus.
